Submissions

A selective route from manuscript to permanent scholarly record.

The Journal of Institutional Architecture and Continuity welcomes original scholarly work that makes a substantive contribution to understanding institutional architecture, continuity, failure, adaptation or decision capacity.

Submissions must fall within the Journal’s defined intellectual territory and meet its standards of originality, rigour, research integrity and scholarly relevance.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

Please read the Journal’s Aims & Scope and Disciplinary Boundaries to ensure that your manuscript is within the Journal’s field and meets its fundamental criteria.

ARTICLE TYPES

The Journal publishes the following types of scholarly work:

  • Research Article
  • Conceptual Article
  • Review Article
  • Methodological Article
  • Institutional Case Study

MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS

  • English language
  • Clear and original contribution
  • Structured abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (5–8)
  • References in author-date format
  • Figures and tables of publication quality
  • Author affiliations and ORCID
  • Data availability statement
  • Conflict of interest declaration
  • Disclosure of AI and computational tools, if used

SUBMISSION MATERIALS

Please prepare the following items for submission:

  • Manuscript (main file)
  • Title page
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Author information and ORCID
  • Declarations and disclosures
  • Supplementary materials, where applicable

EDITORIAL WORKFLOW

All manuscripts follow a rigorous and transparent editorial workflow.

Submission

The manuscript is received through the Journal’s submission system and formally registered.

Initial Assessment

The Editor assesses scope, originality, scholarly relevance, completeness and compliance with the Journal’s requirements.

Peer Review

The manuscript is evaluated by independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The Editor considers the review reports as part of the editorial assessment.

Revision

Authors revise the manuscript in response to reviewer comments and editorial feedback, where revision is requested.

Editorial Decision

The authorised Editor makes the final decision: accept, request further revision or reject.

Production

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, typesetting, metadata preparation, reference checking and author proof review.

Publication

The article is published with a permanent landing page, DOI, citation metadata, publication history and downloadable PDF.

EDITORIAL DECISIONS

Following editorial assessment and, where applicable, peer review, a manuscript may receive one of the following decisions:

PUBLICATION RECORD

Accepted articles become part of the Journal’s permanent scholarly record.

  • Reject without external review
  • Revise before external review
  • Major revision
  • Minor revision
  • Accept
  • Reject

Reviewer recommendations inform the decision but do not determine it. Final editorial responsibility rests with the authorised Editor acting under the Journal’s Editorial Policies.

Authors must comply with the Journal’s requirements concerning authorship, conflicts of interest, research integrity, artificial intelligence, data and research materials.

All relevant declarations must be complete and accurate at the time of submission.

Each published article is intended to include:

  • Permanent article landing page
  • Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Author affiliations and ORCID identifiers
  • References and citation metadata
  • Downloadable PDF
  • Publication history
  • Data and disclosure statements, where applicable
  • Linked corrections or editorial notices, where applicable

Submissions are not yet open.

The Call for Papers for Volume 1, Issue 1 will be announced separately.

Submission instructions and access to the Journal’s submission system will be published on this page when the Journal begins accepting manuscripts.
